We recently took a beach trip to Grayton Beach, FL with some great friends. We had a blast and Emma absolutely LOVED the beach.
We quickly found out that going to the beach with children is very different from going to the beach without children. Our actual beach time was much shorter, and sleep didn't happen as much, however it was so fun getting to see Emma enjoying herself. We love the adventure that is parenting and love making new memories as a family.
Emma was excited to get to spend a whole week with her daddy! I was pretty excited too ;) On the way in we stopped to eat at Hurricane Bay Restaurant.
She loves drinking water out of a cup like a big girl - even if the cup is as big as she is.
It was so good to spend a whole week with great friends. On the Left: Rob, Julie, & Hudson (9 weeks old) Murry. Rob went to UGA and our 2006 South Africa trip with Craig & I. Julie led me in a discipleship group for 3 years, Team Leaders on a beach project with me, and was on staff with Campus Outreach with us. On the right: David, Jenny, Cade (21 months), & baby Melton (due late July) Melton. David and Craig were fraternity brothers, roommates, friends, and co-staff members with Campus Outreach. Jenny, who went to UGA with me as well, and I got to be great friends while visiting our guys at Georgia Tech and have been best friends ever since! So thankful for each of them - and their new little ones.
Emma's first trip down to the beach and she was very curious about the windy, loud (b/c of the waves), and sandy place.
It didn't take her long to jump right in though. She loved the water and even got in her little float for a bit. She played in the sand and of course joined the ranks of every kid that's ever been to the beach and ate her fair share of it as well.
Emma loves her friend Cade. He did well with her as she tried to climb on him and eat him, haha.
It's hard work being a beach bum.
Emma loved getting some great time with her daddy. I found them dancing together after a long beach day. She was just in her diaper a lot of the time because she is a big spitter (when I say big I mean HUGE) and I got tired of doing laundry ;)
Dinner in Seaside
Emma has moved on and now sits sans car seat in her stroller like a big girl. Now she can see more than just me and can check out all her surroundings. She LOVES it. We went on many walks.
Grayton Beach, 2012
On our way home we needed to stop and get out and let Emma wiggle around. We found a great city park in Eufaula, Alabama.
