Emma's 7 Months and Big Hensley News

7 months seems like a big hurdle. She's on the last half of one year. Her seventh month has been the most fun of all! Emma is so full of energy and life and brings a smile to our face everyday. She's really starting to be more aware of things going on around her and is curious about it all. She gets this serious concentrated look on her face as if she's working something out in her head. She's going to be very analytical like her daddy.
Her little giggle is the cutest thing I've ever heard and we know just how to get her to laugh. Usually the sillier and more ridiculous we are, the more hilarious it is to her. When Craig gets home from work, she is especially excited.
She is very friendly and loves other kids. It's funny how she knows who the kids are. Anyone 12 and under she recognizes as her friend. Recently we found out about her love for dogs too! My cousin Joy has a little dog named Charlie who she absolutely went crazy over. Charlie wasn't too sure what to think about the little person trying to pull his hair and "pet" him.
This month was her month to be on the move. She is now crawling, trying to pull up on everything, figuring out how to open drawers, and just constantly squirming. She is a big eater too, which she needs after all that activity!

This month:
- She has moved to nursing 4 times a day instead of 5 (most days)
- She eats 3 meals a day of solid food - and LOVES it
- I make her food and she has had avocado, banana, spinach, pear, applesauce, kale, broccoli, carrots, sweet potato, blueberries, blackberries, rasperries, pumpkin, and egg!
- She went to the beach for the first time - Grayton Beach with friends
- She is crawling. Not a traditional crawl, but if she sees something she wants she gets it
- We had to lower the crib down two notches because I walked in and she was pulled up in a standing position!
- She has developed the most fun, outgoing, friendly personality

Big Hensley News: We are moving! After 2 years of living in Atlanta, we are moving to Ellijay, Georgia, up in the mountains. That is where Craig grew up and where a lot of his family still live. It will be about the same distance from my parents.
It was a hard decision since we absolutely love our church and our community on the westside of Atlanta. Things just seemed to be falling in place and a great opportunity on a house came our way. We prayed a lot about it and talked with family and some close friends and feel this is the right move for us. Craig will still be with the same company, but able to work from home most of the time, which is a huge blessing! We are excited to move into a house as our family has grown and will hopefully grow more in the future and Emma will have plenty of room to play outside. Also, we both love the small town community.
So, as we say goodbye to Atlanta, we are thankful for the two years here and the fun times and great friends we've met. We know that many of them are life long friends and are very grateful for them and our incredible church.

Emma and Charlie the puppy. She obviously loved him!
Emma loves phones - every time a phone rings, she gets excited and flaps her arms. Here my mom, Deedee, is talking to my dad, Poppy, and she loves it. Deedee and Emma also match ;)
Figuring out how to open drawers.
Uncle Lewis graduated from UGA and we went to celebrate. It was her first trip to Athens!
Meeting cousin Harlee for the first time. Harlee is about 2 months younger than Emma. They both seem to enjoy their hands and of course Emma was excited to play with a fellow little person.

Deedee, Poppy, Uncle Tyson, and Aunt Megan stopped by on Mother's Day for a brunch. I was celebrating my mom, then realized that the day applies to me as well. It's crazy to think that I am a Mother, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Emma has changed our lives for the better!
This girl loves to eat!
Our happy girl.
Classic Emma look.
Our big little girl.
We officially have a mover. She is crawling, although not the traditional crawl, she gets what she wants.
I needed to fold some laundry, so I thought I would put her in the laundry basket with some toys while I was folding right beside her. That didn't last long ... she immediately tried to pull up on the basket and almost toppled over head first. Luckily, I had quick reflexes (I think that comes with being a mom) and caught her and the basket with my foot.

This was her first hike by the Chattooga River and she of course, loved it. We love our happy, spunky, curious, squirmy little Emma!
We are going to miss our little buddy Oliver! It's been so much fun to watch him grow into a sweet, happy, fun toddler who loves choo-choos, blue blues (blueberries), and ehhpanes (air planes). Emma loves Oliver and gets so excited to see him. He is so good with her too - he always shares his toys and most importantly, his "nana" (pacifier), and his stuffed monkey both of which are extremely precious to him. He has a new little brother or sister due in early September so I'm glad Emma could teach him a little bit about playing with babies. We will be making many trips to Atlanta to visit this sweet little boy!

Family Beach Trip

We recently took a beach trip to Grayton Beach, FL with some great friends. We had a blast and Emma absolutely LOVED the beach.
We quickly found out that going to the beach with children is very different from going to the beach without children. Our actual beach time was much shorter, and sleep didn't happen as much, however it was so fun getting to see Emma enjoying herself. We love the adventure that is parenting and love making new memories as a family.

Emma was excited to get to spend a whole week with her daddy! I was pretty excited too ;) On the way in we stopped to eat at Hurricane Bay Restaurant.

She loves drinking water out of a cup like a big girl - even if the cup is as big as she is.

It was so good to spend a whole week with great friends. On the Left: Rob, Julie, & Hudson (9 weeks old) Murry. Rob went to UGA and our 2006 South Africa trip with Craig & I. Julie led me in a discipleship group for 3 years, Team Leaders on a beach project with me, and was on staff with Campus Outreach with us. On the right: David, Jenny, Cade (21 months), & baby Melton (due late July) Melton. David and Craig were fraternity brothers, roommates, friends, and co-staff members with Campus Outreach. Jenny, who went to UGA with me as well, and I got to be great friends while visiting our guys at Georgia Tech and have been best friends ever since! So thankful for each of them - and their new little ones.

Emma's first trip down to the beach and she was very curious about the windy, loud (b/c of the waves), and sandy place.

It didn't take her long to jump right in though. She loved the water and even got in her little float for a bit. She played in the sand and of course joined the ranks of every kid that's ever been to the beach and ate her fair share of it as well.

Emma loves her friend Cade. He did well with her as she tried to climb on him and eat him, haha.

It's hard work being a beach bum.

Emma loved getting some great time with her daddy. I found them dancing together after a long beach day. She was just in her diaper a lot of the time because she is a big spitter (when I say big I mean HUGE) and I got tired of doing laundry ;)

Dinner in Seaside

Emma has moved on and now sits sans car seat in her stroller like a big girl. Now she can see more than just me and can check out all her surroundings. She LOVES it. We went on many walks.

Grayton Beach, 2012

On our way home we needed to stop and get out and let Emma wiggle around. We found a great city park in Eufaula, Alabama.
