Trip to Orlando & short visit to Disney

This past week the three of us took a short trip to Orlando for one of Craig's good friend's wedding, aka Emma's first big road trip and our first family vacation! The drive down couldn't have gone smoother. We left right after Emma woke up on Wednesday, around 7am. We made it in about 10 hours with 3 stops to feed her and get her out of the carseat.

We decided we had to make a trip to Disney while we were there. Since Emma is only 5 months old, we figured buying passes for a park would not be worth it since she obviously couldn't last all day. So, we drove to Downtown Disney and walked around for a couple hours, which was the perfect amount of time since she needed a nap and it was already 88 degrees in March! She loved all the music and especially the Disney store.

I think Craig and I were more excited than Emma about Disney

The wedding was a great time with friends and Emma had fun, she stayed out until 9:30pm enjoying the music (which considering her bedtime is 7:30 or 8 is late for her).

The ride home was a different story. 13 hours, 6 stops, torrential downpour, and horrible traffic, we finally made it home!

And Emma's newest trick that we discovered while in Orlando is that she will get on all fours and start rocking back and forth - I think we are going to have a little crawler any day now!

5 months Old

The theme of this month has been curiosity. Emma is curious about everything. She is really beginning to notice food. Anything I am eating she wants to eat and will try to put her fingers in my mouth as if she's trying to figure out what it is. I started letting her take little "sips" out of my cup of water and she thinks its the greatest thing ever. She sees a cup & automatically starts reaching for it and chomps down.
She is rolling ALL over the place and never stops moving. When holding her I have to be careful  because she will literally jump out of my arms. Although she is super squirmy and wiggly, she's also gotten more cuddly lately. She will look up at us and then just put her head on our shoulder and her arm around our neck as if she's trying to give us a hug. She is really interested in faces and will grab your nose, eyes, ears, lips (particularly she likes to fish hook your mouth), earrings, and definitely the hair.

Emma is about to start crawling any day now. She raises up on her knees and pushes up with her arms and lunges forward. She is better at scooting backward though which is obviously a little frustrating for her as she gets farther away from the toy she wants.
Other big milestones for this month are that we don't swaddle her anymore, she sleeps on her tummy, and is pretty consistently sleeping 9-10 hours a night!

Constantly chewing on things - I think we have some teeth trying to break through.
Love her pouty lips and bright blue eyes
She loves her exersaucer even more and is trying to figure out all the toys.
One of her favorite things to do is listen to Craig play banjo, which is equally as enjoyable for him.

And here is a little taste of her personality - so much fun:
